BorovetsBorovets, the first and most famous Bulgarian mountain resort, is situated on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1350 meters. Only 72 km away from Sofia and just 126 km away from Plovdiv, Borovets is easily accessible from all parts of Bulgaria.
Borovets is the oldest and the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria where skiers can experience the thrill of a whole range of winter sports. The resort is situated in Rila mountains at 1350m altitude above sea level among the aromatic pine woods.
In the summer Borovets is just as marvelous as it is in the winter. It offers everything a perfect vacation takes: clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. For nature-lovers the resort is a favorite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routs in the Rila Mountains. And when the sun has gone down, the resort begins to pulse with the numerous lights of the nightlife...
The official skiing season lasts from mid-December to mid-April with the most reliable snow-cover in late February and early March. The ski runs of various difficulty are differentiated for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers and equipped with international markings and multilingual signs. The runs are bashed and maintained to the highest standards.
You can choose to travel to Borovets either by bus or by car.
By bus: Every 30 minutes, a bus/minibus departs for Samokov from South Bus Station (Avtogara Yug). In about an hour the bus arrives at Samоkov Bus Station. There you can take a van for Borovetz every 15 minutes. In Borovets, the van stops in front of Hotel Samokov. You can take the van back to Samokov in front ot Hotel Ela.
By car: If you choose to travel by car you have to take the following rout: Sofia - Gorublyane - Pancharevo - Samokov - Borovets. The resort offers enough parking spots. The largest guarded parking is situated by the entrance to the resort. The Rila and Samokov hotels also have parking areas guarded round the clock. The smaller hotels have parking space, too.
