Sliven

Sliven is situated in the eastern part of the Thracian Plain, at the feet of Sliven Balkan, 279 km east of Sofia, and 114 km west of Burgas. I

n rather nationalistic way, the town is known as the "town of the hundred voivods" after the number of their chieftains.

Places if Interest:
 the national park Blue Rocks, situated northeast, with a lake and extremely interesting rock formations, which offer excellent opportunities for rest, sport and tourism;
 the Sliven mineral baths;
 the History Museum;
 the Hadzhi Dimitar House-Museum;
 the thousand-year-old oak tree in the town's centre that survived the burning of medieval Sliven by the Turks.
